Retouching is the processing of photos to improve them. A retoucher can correct almost anything: replace the background, remove glare, shadows, improve brightness and contrast, correct blown out photos, adjust the model’s figure in the photo, correct facial features, rejuvenate a person, and even stylize a photo.
There are the following types of retouching:
- Technical – removes defects in a photo or restores damaged and old photos.
- Artistic: improves the quality of the picture, refines the image.
- Subject (catalog) – photo processing for publishing in Internet-shops, catalogs, on corporate sites.
- Glossy (magazine) – photo processing for publication in glossy magazines or model portfolios.
Separate service – restoration of old photos, such as archival photos, old photos from family albums, etc.
What do the prices for photo retouching depend on?
- The complexity of the work. Simple processing is cheaper, complex processing is more expensive because it takes more time.
- Number of photos. Processing a single photo will cost more than processing a series of photos or a photo shoot (per 1 pc).
- Urgency. A surcharge for urgency can be around 30% of the base price.
- Experience of the performer and the level of his portfolio. There are expensive retouchers, and there are specialists with more affordable prices.
